Data was processed by an IBM PC/AT computer using the SPSS/PC+ program and was statistically analysed by the Chi-square test.

@EN 1. The number of emergency psychiatric patients was highest in second decade age group (28.6%) among all age groups.
2. There were no significant differences in analysis of sex, residential areas, time of arrival, and distribution of season, according to age differences.
3. In the analysis of reasons for psychiatric emergency service, acute psychotic symptoms, acute neurotic symptoms, suicidal attempts, and transfers from other hospitals were highest in second decade age group; substance use and others were
highest in
fourth decade age group.
4. In analysis of precipitating factors, problems due to examination were more prevalent among first decade age group and second decade age group ; physical problems, conflict with acquaintances, and economic problems, were more prevalent among
second
decade age group ; marital problems, intrafamilial problems, and legal problems were more prevalent among third decade age group ; problems due to accident were more prevalent among fourth decade age group ; problems due to death of a family
member
were
more prevalent among fifth decade age group.
5. In analysis of psychiatic diagnosis, somatoform disorder was the most frequent diagnosis, for those from first decade group to fifth decade age group, mood disorder was the most frequent diagnosis in the sixth decade age group.
6. In analysis of accompanying persons with emergency psychiatric patients solitary visiting was more prevalent among third decade age group, accompanying visiting with family members, friends and others were the most frequent among second
decade
age
gruoup.
